I wanted a more compact setup for my Ormerod 2 and moving the filament spool holder was part of it. I was inspired by Kiestenschieber's work here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:758259.
However, what I needed was something lighter, lower profile, so I designed this solution.
There are two parts to it: a modified z-upper-mount and the actual spool holder. I have used 625ZZ bearings, but really any bearing with a 5mm internal diameter should work. The bearings press fit into the mount.
You will also need 2 M3 nuts and 2 M3x35 cap head screws.
I have only used Hatchbox filament so far, so the mount is for 32mm spools.
There are two guides for the filament: the smaller one is a direct feed for 1.75mm filament. The larger one can be used for PTFE tube (how I use it) or thicker filaments.
