This is a laser optimized cut pattern for a 2'x3' protective shield. This is designed for 1/4" thick acrylic. The pieces have tabs so that assembly is easier.
Instructions:
1. Cut all pieces
2. Remove film or paper mask - at least around edges where it will be glued.
3. Assemble using tape (masking or painters) to hold together. DO NOT GLUE while assembling.
4. After fully assembled, glue all edges. If using a liquid welding cement, it's best to glue edges that are standing upright. This will keep runs and drips at a minimum. We typically do this on a large fleece blanket to keep scratching at a minimum AND absorb any runoff of cement.
5. Wait at least an hour before removing tape.
We use SCITEK #4 cement that is made to weld the acrylic together. We do not recommend the use of silicone as it does not adhere to acrylic or plexiglass for long term use. Find a good acrylic cement. As an easy alternative, clear strong packing tape works well.
