I needed an oddly sized spring for another project (that will probably be on thingiverse in the future) and decided to try nd print one myself.

I wrote and OpenSCAD script to generate the spring shape, printed it in ABS and, somewhat to my surprise, got a fully functional spring.

Thin 3D printed ABS parts don't exactly have a reputation for making good engineering parts - and for a good reason - they are crazy brittle.

If you extend the spring too much it will break, and sideway force and it will break, if you make the distance between loops too big it will break.

But if you are careful it is a fully functional spring, you compress it and it bounces back.

I made one side flat for easy printing, print at 100% infill and no support, all test prints were done on my Robo3D R1+ without raft and brim

**Update**

I've had multiple suggestions to print this in nylon, while I believe printing this in nylon will work really well I don't have nylon filament right now so I can'
