3D Printed Tabletop Hold-Down BracketsI needed a reliable way to secure tabletops and countertops to the aprons of various woodworking projects. While I could’ve made these out of wood, I chose to 3D print them instead. This let me incorporate features like countersinks and screw recesses that would’ve taken extra time to machine by hand. They're printed on their sides so the layer lines run perpendicular to the hold-down tension—helping prevent separation under load. I print them with 100% infill for maximum strength. I use PETG, though ABS or other strong filaments would likely work well too. I wouldn’t recommend PLA for these, as it’s too brittle for the job. Cutting the Slots:I cut the slots in the apron using a Festool Domino with a 5mm bit, set to the middle slot width. This gives enough room for seasonal wood movement. You could also use a biscuit joiner, router, or even a circular saw—just be sure to cut the slots into your apron pieces before assembly. A 5mm (or roughly ¼&
