Brother Matthieu once tended the wine cellars beneath a mountain abbey, until the night he found the monks butchered by creatures that wore the faces of the dead. Armed with little more than a heavy crucifix and a black powder pistol, he hunted the monsters into the catacombs and emerged alone three days later. Since then, commanders from every nation have sought the “Bloody Monk,” whose booming hymns are said to drive back darkness itself.
