The Hunger Pack The hounds of the Gluttons of the Abyss were never beasts born to the sea. They were once dogs taken aboard heretic raiding vessels — mastiffs, hunting hounds, and war-dogs fed on rotten meat and taught to tear apart mutineers, captives, and the dead. But the cursed tides of the Hellgate changed them. They drank from bilgewater mixed with blood, gnawed upon corpses swollen with corruption, and learned to hunger for more than flesh alone. Now they roam the decks of damned ships as half-feral abominations, their bodies bloated by salt and rot. Their hides hang in wet folds, their jaws split too wide, and their teeth resemble broken hooks more than fangs. Barnacles cling to their ribs, worms nest in their gums, and in the darkness between waves their eyes gleam like lanterns beneath black water. They no longer bark like animals.
