Dragging its long abdomen behind it in the dew of the dawn grass, the arachnid searches for a fresh bloom of flowers to prepare for the rising sun. Once settled among the grass and stalks, it will raise its back to the sky. Expanding the segments of its pygidium into a semblance of the flowers that surround it, the scorpithine then quickly migrates pigment cells within to match the color of the surrounding petals and masterfully camouflages itself in the underbrush. Patiently it will wait with an eerie stillness in the warm morning sun until an unwary pollinator will chance upon its false blossom. Unlike the flowers around it, its petals are lined with gripping serrated edges, ready to close in on the prey. And once they do, the long clawed hind legs repeatably stab the struggling prey until it ceases to move and the arachnid is then ready to feast.
