7 bit Gray code absolute encoder disk. Originally intended to be used in a wind vane in my Weather Station (lu9aga.duckdns.org), but can be applied to any contraption where an absolute axis position must be asserted ( 5° granularity in this case). Seven optocouplers must be provided to read the position Gray code. I used 3mm IR LEDs and IR phototransistors.

This disk replaced a graphic film version supported on a methacrylate disk. Both versions can be appreciated side to side in one of the photographs.

Diameter is 140mm and the thickness is 1.2mm.
