I needed a slimline way to carry some spare hex bits, so I knocked this up in FreeCad. It is designed to utilise a 5mm thick section of bicycle inner tube (Ranger Band, if you want to be all tacticool about it) to hold the two halves together.

I used a section cut from a tube for a 26" MTB wheel. It's just tight enough to hold things securely. I wouldn't suggest using a fatter tube, but you could probably use something from a thinner wheel and it would still work.

The hex cut-outs in the lid allow it to be used as a handle in a pinch. at 15% infill it probably won't take a large amount of force but initial testing feels strong enough for light duties. You may want to print the lid at a higher infill percentage if you intend to use it as a handle on a regular basis.
