Although this geometry looks like it is based on sine curves it is actually a simple Loft surface made from 4 circles, topped with a hemisphere. I saw this shape (much larger and apparently made of wood) at a hotel in Barcelona and thought it might make an interesting table lamp. When I got home I tried making it with sine curves, but those didn't work. So I put it away while I waited for some sort of inspiration. A few weeks later I saw a similar shape made by 3D surfacing 4 circles - but that one had an open top. So I tweaked it to use a Loft surface and added a hemisphere to close the top and reflect more light.
The print finished in a bit less than 7 1/2 hours using a print speed of 100 mm/sec and layer height of 0.200 mm.
This STL file is 200 mm. in diameter, but it should be scaleable to a smaller size if necessary. It will work with any one of several LED lights called "puck" lights. You can get these powered by either batteries of wall power. This blog page has links for
