Comics Code Authority Stamp

The Comic Codes Authority, set up in 1954 as an alternative to government regulation, was a guideline for Comic Book companies to self-regulate the content of their books. Most mainstream publishers used the stamp on the cover of their books into the 21st century. It was dropped entirely by 2011.
