Needed to mount the spool low... Found a great, strong 4040 bracket by Brasse. duplicated and flipped, trimmed, and voila! Low slung, slick side mount.
Thanks to Edison Ong on the Creality Ender-3 3d printer user Facebook group for the idea... I love this mount.
One benefit of using a low mount- It gets he weight off the top of the gantry. This should get rid of the shaking at high print rates, especially when using dampening feet.
Another benefit- Clearance above the printer. This mod reduces the spooled height (with dampener feet) from 28-1/2" to 19-1/2" (724mm to 495mm).
Yet another benefit- It does this without using any more table space.
Still working on the filament guide... Posting the one pictured, but will be finding/making something smoother.
Edit- I updated the filament guide... I deleted one of the rings. It was causing too much friction. If you already printed the 5 ring guide, you can simply clip off the smallest ring with nips.
