This large button has a dome made from vacuum formed plastic, a 3D printed mechanism and a laser-cut housing. It is designed so you can put lights or other electronics inside the button dome itself. I used a white vacuum forming material so I could make the button change colour using different coloured LEDs. The button is a push-to-break switch with the contacts hand-cut from thick aluminium foil (pie dish). I used a piece of foam as the spring but you can use whatever you have to hand. Included is a 3D model for the mould for the vacuum formed dome, I printed this in ABS so it would cope with the heat of the vacuum former machine.
It turns out that aluminium foil is really hard to solder onto, next time I'll get copper foil.
I found that standard LEDs didn't have a diffuse enough light to evenly illuminate the dome so I used a belt sander to grind off the lens part of the LED leaving a flat top which gave a much more even lighting effect.
I used a box from https://www.festi.i
