This simple construction set helps visualize the planes and symmetries in the beautiful but complex gyroid structure. It is inspired by this blog: https://minimalsurfaces.blog/category/crafts/
The models pictured above demonstrate how different perspectives can highlight either the hexagonal or square forms within the same gyroid structure.
The "Square" and "Star" tiles are designed to use a minimal amount of filament. All of the walls are 1.6 mm. Use a 0.8 mm nozzle with single wall thickness. Print with no infill, no tops or bottoms, and turn off any feature that might fill the small gaps between walls. Print without brim as able.
Of the three tabs protruding from each edge of the shapes, one of the tabs has bulges on both sides, while the other two tabs have corresponding indents. This permits attachment in only one direction, but it sometimes takes some close inspection to be sure they are lined up correctly.
Tolerance is optimized for .8 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height
