This is my submission for the current MakerBot Mars Base Challenge.
My Mars base consists of a central building and many flexible modules, which are connected with retractable connectors. The central building is designed to ensure the well-being of all deployed Martians under all circumstances. The flexible module system should offer space for all not-vital purposes such as research, recreational and extra storage. If a disaster like an extreme dust storm occurs, all Martians retreat to the central building, which is afterwards disconnected from the modules to offer a self-contained system. The central building is shaped cylindrical to minimize damage in harsh weather with it's little windage. Additionally it consists only of vertical or skewed surfaces to keep the dust from despositing on the building. The most important issue for my design is to ensure a constant supply of energy and food. Therefore the focus lies at the central building, which is structured in floors (see Images)
