I was inspired by the original design, but I rebuilt the model from scratch in Solidworks and beefed up all of the parts. This should be pretty robust, and last a long time.

I wanted a small spool for experimenting with smaller batches of nylon, polycarbonate, or other unusual materials.

Print two parts and they will assemble permanently with the annular snap latches.
