I kept forgetting what each bottom and top surface pattern looked like, so I found the fantastic Swatch-a-macallit (https://makerworld.com/en/models/764047-swatch-a-macallit-surface-reference#profileId-699141) on MakerWorld. But I wanted something more minimal and compact, and since I don't need the ironing or wall surface swatches, I designed this to focus just on the surface patterns. I also wanted something that would fit in a 1x1 sized gridfinity container for easy storage and reference on--I can hang them right on the side of my printer. It looks especially great with silks and “galaxy” types of filament, but it's also a good way to see which patterns don't look especially good for a particular filament. Make sure to adjust your filament settings for each new swatch, and customize the filament name in the Objects menu.
