Notes to my Off Axis Guider construction (German text below)
Add: I've seen some downloads. It would be nice if you write some comments, if the OAG is working for you or your experiences with it or iff you founf it difficult to build.
General note:
This guider is primarily designed for my requirements and cameras (see below). I made the few additional variations so that others (yes, you too, dear reader ;-) can find a suitable setup with a bit of luck.
One of these requirements is to be able to align the recording camera independently of the guiding camera. Of course, this depends on the sensor size and the shadowing by the mirror, but many guiders have this problem. However, many only allow a few positions. With APS-C sensors it is more or less irrelevant, as there is hardly any space for the guider. Smaller sensors like mine, however, allow more freedom. And if the focal length is >3m, finding a guiding star occasionally becomes a game of patience.
