When I am camping or just outdoors, I sometimes need to illuminate a whole room or a tent. A normal headlight is not very suitable for this, as it is very directional. So, from parts I had laying around, I build this camping torch/lantern, which shines in almost 180 °, can illuminate a tent enough for people to comfortably read a book and can be hanged from the ceiling or stood on a table. It is powered by an 18650 battery, there are two power levels and it has a 3 W LED.
The model is really simple to print, and any printer should be capable of that. I used PLA, even though ABS would be a better choice for this. The diffuser was made from transparent PLA, and it works really well. Once printed, use M2 screws and epoxy glue to put everything together.
Electronics are described [here](http://embedblog.eu/?p=224).
Happy printing & camping!
