i made this case for 3mm acrylic to use a arcadebutton on a raspberry pi zero to start the printing process on an eggbot.

therefore i installed inkscape with extentions on the pi zero and use the button on an gpio-pin and a little script (with "xdotool") to simulate the "left mouse button". all you have to do first/once is to load the picture in Inkscape, to start the plugin and place the mouse (with a "hardware" mouse) on the softwarebutton "print". then you could disconnect your monitor and mouse and place them away.

...now everytime you are placing a "fresh" sphere and push the button, you start a new print on the connected printer.
(i`m using this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1683764)

works very well with 38mm pingpong spheres and it is a very simple to use (even by childs) eycatcher on events.

i`m using tihs arcade-button:
