What was done multistage machining and assembly is now done in a single cycle of 3D printing. Now you can design the best parts with low weight and high strength. I tried to execute preliminary design of a simple detail (stopper variant 1 classical ). Classical stop is made of titanium (thickness of 5 mm and a breaking strength of 12 MPa for 1 safety factor, mass 0,074 kg). Variant 2. I set a goal: to reduce the influence of bending and ensure self-aligning and distortions compensation. Modern stop also made of titanium, mass 0,054 kg. The strength of the modern design does not provide. Variant 3. More rigidity with less weight. 1 mm thin shell of double curvature reinforced support bars. This option is best for strength, but needs to be further developed.
