As part of Boise Code Camp (http://boisecodecamp.com/), the company I work for sponsored a Sumo Bot competition. Everyone used the same hardware, the deciding factor was the code.
The company bought Sparkfun Redbots (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12697) and I designed and printed the sumo shields.
The Redbot was configured with 2 reflectance in the front and one in the back, and an ultrasonic sensor was added.
The main purpose of the front and back shields was to protect the reflectance sensors and work as a mount for the ultrasonic sensor.
Front and back shields are angled at 10 deg. Both shields print without support and clip onto Redbot for easy installation and removal.
