RedCat 51 (Gen2 with helical focusser) - ZWO EAF adapter kit
Pros:
- No added guide scope flex. Other designs require you to put the bracket between the telescope and the handle (where the guide scope sits). This adds flex to the guidescope causing loss of tracking accuracy.
- No fiddling with tension (like putting shims in a belt system)
- No need to raise your telescope, put stuff between your vixxen plate and the redcat. It makes your setup taller. That would move the telescope further from the RA rotational axis, causing more load on your mount. It would also introduce potential flex between your mount actuation and telescope (and guiding).
- Gears, no backlash (other than ZWO EAF internally) v.s. belt design that has flex and can skip (and tension problems)
- I straight angle spur gear allows for easy assembly (easily slides in wo rotation). I experimented with a Helix gear but found that the EAF itself has more backlash internally than the spur gear.
