Rotary Encoder button

This is an enclosure for a small rotary encoder control.

It holds a rotary encoder, small LIPO battery, and an ESP8266-12F module. It has slots for an on/off switch and a recharging point.

It is designed to provide a small remote controller for a variety of application like a light dimmer or a volume control.

The software at https://github.com/roberttidey/RotaryEncoderButton uses the deep sleep functionality of the esp8266 to keep battery current very low until it is activated by the control being rotated and then it times out after inactivity.The schematic shows how it is wired up.

A config file allows the actions taken to be set up. These include simple web access, mqtt reporting and controlling a lightwaverf lamp dimmer via a lightwaverf link.
