Sampling Adapter

This sampling adapter is easily attached to threaded poles to allow for easy sampling of environmental media using commonly used 50 mL centrifuge tubes. This build has allowed for sterile sample collection of water samples, wastewater samples, and sediment samples that would otherwise be inaccessible, such as within storm basins, septic systems or latrines.

This centrifuge tube swing sampling adapter consists of two 3D-printed components, a threaded attachment piece and a support piece. The threaded attachment piece attaches to the sampling pole of interest, such as the NASCO extendable sampling pole or commonly available paint roller extension poles. The support piece holds the centrifuge tube (specifically 50mL sized) and is equipped with a divot to compliment the bottom of the centrifuge tube, it also has a divot to accommodate a zip tie or rubber band that secures the centrifuge tube to the assembly.
