Schleifhilfe (whetstone sharpening)

This sharpening jig is used to support freehand sharpening with wet sharpening stones. For the assembly, you need:
3x printed parts
2x 8mm steel rods
4x 15mm m3 screws
4x nuts and washers
3x 6mmx2mm magnets (optional)
2 LM8UU bearings

When choosing the bearings, a compromise must be found between durability and usability. The Igus Dryline bearings are water resistant but quickly tilt under forces that are not collinear to the grinding direction. Steel bearings, on the other hand, must be oiled regularly, otherwise they will rust very quickly. The adapter plate can be adjusted to compensate for stones of different heights. The sparpening stone has dimensions 180mmx40mmx30mm. These are standard stones from eBay.
Tip: you can apply tape to the blade to avoid scratching the knife.
