this is a shoulder support I designed and made for my brother in law. below is the write-up for the Autodesk internal information web site.
After having a shoulder operation, Lloyd had to keep the shoulder muscles and biceps immobile for 6 weeks. This means that the dead weight of his arm had to be supported by the neck/opposite shoulder. This was quite tiring and painful. Luckily Lloyd’s Brother-in Law is Robert Larson from the Kilsyth office in Melbourne, Australia.
Robert is an avid maker and 3D printer and took up the challenge of helping to relieve the pain.
After taking measurements with a piece of wire bent around the shoulder, Robert then designed and printed a shoulder pad that took the load from around the neck and distributed the weight over the point of the shoulder.
Relief was evident in Lloyds’s face after Robert fitted his new shoulder pad.
