A spanner (also called a wrench in American English) is a hand tool used to provide grip and mechanical advantage in applying torque to turn objectsβusually rotary fasteners, such as nuts and bolts. π§ Types of Spanners: Open-End Spanner β Has open jaws on one or both ends. Ring Spanner β Closed-loop ends that grip the entire nut or bolt head. Combination Spanner β One end open, the other end ring-shaped. Adjustable Spanner (Crescent Wrench) β Has a movable jaw to fit various sizes. Box Spanner β A cylindrical spanner that fits over the nut, often used with a T-handle. Socket Spanner β Used with a ratchet handle, fits completely over the nut or bolt.
