This is a 3D printable design for an aparatus for measuring the specific gravity of a gemstone or geological sample. It allows the sample to be weighed while suspended in water. Knowing this weight and the weight of the sample dry, the specific gravity or density of the material can be calculated using the formula :-
Specific Gravity = (Weight in Air) / (Weight in Air – Water in Water)
