Stuffing Box

A stuffing box is a mechanical sealing assembly used to prevent leakage of fluid or gas along a rotating or reciprocating shaft. It consists of a housing that contains packing material, which is compressed around the shaft by a gland or follower. The packing creates a tight seal while still allowing controlled shaft movement.
