Phenylethene (C₈H₈), widely known as styrene, is a colorless, oily liquid that is a versatile and important monomer. Its structure consists of a vinyl group attached to a benzene ring. The vast majority of styrene produced annually is used for polymerization to create polystyrene, a transparent and rigid plastic. Polystyrene is ubiquitous, found in food packaging, disposable cups, and as expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) for insulation. Styrene is also a key component in creating important copolymers like Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) for tires and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). Explore searchable catalogue of hundreds of molecules, including details on how models were generated. NotesIf you happen to break something, use superglue to fix it. It will make the broken part even stronger.I decided to go with the ball-and-stick type, as it is easiest to color, is rigid, and looks awesome. The model represents the major resonance contributor.I oriented the model for optimal strength/
