This is an original design, using the Tensegrity concept. It employs metal beaded chain as the support and stability elements, and is designed to support a round glass top.
Features at the top and bottom of the model perform dual functions; acting as the feet/glass support, while also acting as the clamps to set the length of the support chains. These endpoints have the chain pattern embedded in them, and are friction-fit for initial adjustment. After adjustment they are locked into place by M3 x 8 threadforming screws.
This design is scaled to employ #6 and #10 stainless steel chain from the Ball Chain Manufacturing Company. The #10 center chain is rated to 100 pounds.
The model shown is printed in PET-G, with 30% infill. This, along with the strength of the stainless steel chains, allows a fairly significant amount of tension to be used, resulting in very good dampening.
