Meet the EGGMy initial thoughts -This piece began as a light-hearted idea — a playful nod to the very beginning of a bird’s life. An egg symbolizes new beginnings, so I thought… why not give birds the chance to live in one? This birdhouse could be used for either pet birds or in your garden for wild birds to have a place to call home.A design thought that may not be practical but I thought it would serve a purpose overall -The EGG features a gently raised interior that serves a dual purpose: it can function as a feeding area, much like a miniature trough, or, if a bird decides to move in, it provides a stable base for a nest to be built securely around.A small, thoughtfully placed perch complements the EGG’s design, giving our feathered friends a safe little launchpad for taking off.Printing The EGG -Printing the EGG with the settings I used takes roughly 12 hours, though you can probably adjust settings to shorten the time if you wish to create your own. I chose not to use the CFS feature for the perch, as it would have significantly increased print time duration. The egg using the same settings as myself will use around 383.2g of filament so make sure if you print this you have plenty on your spool.Durability Testing and other thoughts -In terms of durability, I tested its strength by suspending it with a rope, and it easily supports the weight of small birds maximum weight will also depend on rope or material used for hanging alternative would be as suggested below — perfect for the species likely to make it their home. For added stability, you could modify the design in print settings to create a small hole using the drill feature on Creality print for screwing it securely into a post or wall, ensuring there’s no risk of it falling.I hope you enjoy the EGG as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life. This is my first time entering such a contest and would love if you could comment any feedback and images if you go ahead and print the egg I also had taken note of other
