Design challenge: design a biodegradable forcep that is inexpensive, laser cut, and can pick up a single poppy seed.
Justification: could be used for removing ticks after extending time in wooded areas during activities such as hiking or field biology.
Design features: angled tips allow for localized alignment of tip. Material used allowed for flexibility. Additional hole cut in center to allow for the creation of a tag (with optional addition of text) as to avoid wasting materials.
Example depicted was cut on a Glowforge using 1/8 inch (3mm) particle board / plywood.
“Forcep” file contains single copy of displayed design in .svg format.
“ForcepGrouped” file contains array of 16 tweezers that fit on a square foot of board in .svg format. Such an arrangement would allow for optimal printing in large quantities, such as 512 cutouts on a 4 by 8 foot board.
Designs created on Inkscape software, version 0.92.3
Project challenge proposed by Dr. Richard H. Siderits
