I'm of the belief that a lightbulb or led should never be directly visible to the observer. It must be diffused or obscured in some way. So, when I moved into a new office with eye-burning under-cabinet lights mounted higher on the wall than usual, something had to change. The solution was a pair of magnetic light diffusing shades made mostly from office supplies.
Materials:
- 6mm x 3mm neodymium magnets
- Thumb tacks or push pins
- Plain white office paper cut into strips 92mm in height (this works best and without seams
if you use roll of paper instead of individual sheets)
Assembly:
- Print the shade holders that work best for your situation
- Permanently press the magnets into the holders
- Slide the paper strip through the slotted grove in each holder
- Use the thumb tacks on the inside of the shade holders to hold the paper in place
