I think the main advantage of 3D printing is that you can print functional mechanisms that can be tested immediately. In this case, I designed a fan which is a worm gear mechanism, driven by the user's hand, totally "ecologic" ;) I have called it "WormFan". This mechanism could be improved by adding a flywheel...
