The idea for this LED lamp from a posting by someone who wanted to make something (I have no idea what) from a series of conjoined conical sections. It took me several tries to develop a design that was 3D printable. My first design stuck with the basic conical shape, but had some fundamental design errors that required a total print time of 46.5 hours. The print competed OK, but I decided not to publish it.
I fixed the design errors and was able to reduce the print time by 20 hours, but the result still didn't seem good enough to publish. I then replaced the basic cone shape with a surface of rotation formed by a circular arc, and I reduced overall print time by eliminating unnecessary internal structure. This print competed in 19 1/4 hours using a layer height of 0.200 mm and print speed of 130 mm/sec.
It is designed to hold any one of several LED lights called "puck" lights. You can get these powered by either batteries of wall power. This blog page has links for wall powere
