I designed a new carriage and extruder setup for the OB1.4 printer to mount dual extruders on the X carriage. So far it looks like it works quite well.
I am using geared stepper motors to drive the filament. They can be bought here: http://www.robotshop.com/geared-bipolar-stepper-motor-3v-233-oz-in.html
The bowden tubing can be bought here: http://seemecnc.com/collections/parts-accesories/products/ptfe-tubing-2mm-id-x-4mm-od
The hobbed filament drive can be found here: http://trinitylabs.com/products/hobbed-pulley
the tubing fittings can be bought here: http://seemecnc.com/products/4mm-quick-connect-ptc-fitting
I am using a 624 bearing for the idler in the extruder. The x carriage uses a single 40mm fan to cool both hot ends with a common duct instead of the stock 25mm fans.
NEW---- 10/31
The motor mount has been updated to better support the filament using some 2mm PTFE tubing to prevent softer filaments from buckling under higher print speeds.
