Quick Release Latch

I designed this Quick Release Latch to solve my problem of our cats breaking into our garbage can whenever they felt like it. The can already had a pivoting lock on it, but the little hellions discovered how to unlock it. This design left them cursing my name and shaking their furry little paws in frustration at me. Cats are amazing creatures, but they make horrible roommates sometimes. This is a quick slide to unlock, and it latches back with a light push down on the lidI used a 8 mm x 20 mm compression spring to allow for a quick return of the lock, but this is optional, and it should work just fine without the spring.I have used double sided tape secure it to the lids i have installed it on, but any adhesive of your choice should work depending on the specific application. Printing is straight forward, and works well in the orientation of the build plate. The knob is a tight friction fit into the sliding latch, but you can use some glue for extra security.
