Type 90

History: Amidst rising geopolitical tensions, the Japanese had in mind a main battle tank design of their own. The tank was to be light-weight, so it could cross bridges built in Japan; small, so it could traverse hilly terrain; yet combat-ready against other tank designs of the time. Enter the Type 90, Japan's main battle tank that was designed to fulfill such roles with the added benefit of hydro-pneumatic suspension for home-ground advantage. While the Type 90 was comparable to Germany's Leopard series, it never saw action.

Notes: 1/100 scale model from Gorgytz is a heavy remix, with new features (i.e. amended track treads, reshaped spur gears, undercarriage in-fill, model in-fill, reworked air vents, complete engine deck, full crew tools, turret machine gun, etc.) for historical accuracy and easier print. Model is an early Type 90 that entered service with only the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force. Turret should rotate and machine gun should fit now. If otherwise, please let us
