Hello
For a while I've been dreaming of automating my window blinds. And now I have(at least version 1). This design uses a 28BYJ-48 stepper motor. Its slow. But hey 20 secs for full motion isn't going to hurt anyone. Plus the motor is completely silent(for me). Only the occasional scratch from the plastic blinds shifting.
This designed from the metal version of the blinds. However, a friend of mine has the plastic kind and this almost fits it(probably would), Just need to change a few parameters.
Also You'll most likely have to design your own adapter between the stepper and the blinds as Its seemingly different between every bind.
The stabilizer is to reduce the torque on the mounts. In the pics I'm using one and the 1mm test print at the top cause I can. I'd recommend using 2 but you can get away with just one.
My set up is using [OpenHAB](http://www.openhab.org/). I'm currently just communicating via serial commands. later I'll expand it to use [MySensors](https://www.m
