The dfPlayer is a nice audio module that plays back mp3 files stored on a micro SD card. It is very cheap and gives a good basis for turning spare speakers into music playback devices.

The module contains the SD card socket, the audio playback electronics, stereo headphone outputs, and a mono speaker amplifier. It can be controlled either by local buttons or by commands over a serial interface. I use the module in conjunction with a esp8266 processor to give browser based control. https://github.com/roberttidey/dfPlayer

The module can be tricky to mount as one wants to have access to the SD card slot.

This bracket is designed to make that easier by allowing it to be screwed inot a flat panel. A slot for the SD card needs to be cut out of the panel but then the bracket can be secured with 2 screws to securely hold the dfPlayer in place.
